Man is arrested while trying to put out the flame of the Olympic torch with water bucket
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Maracaju, a city in Mato Grosso do Sul on Sunday (26), after trying to put out the Olympic torch with a bucket of water.
According to the delegate Amylcar Eduardo Romero, the incident occurred around 11:25 am (on local time). "The principle would be a joke promoted by the suspect and his friends, and who had been released by Facebook," said the officer. The police found no political motivation for the act, only intention of public disorder.
"He played a great amount of water in the athlete who was carrying the torch. As he was far away, he failed to erase the flame, "Romero said. The delegate explained that the young man was apprehended in the act and will respond in freedom. He paid BRL 1,000 bail. The case was registered as qualified damage to society. The penalty for this crime is six months to three years.
