State Representative's car is caught parking on bike path in São Paulo

Deputy car parked in bike lane

The bike paths are gaining more space in the streets of São Paulo and at the same time, the irregular use of exclusive lanes for bikes is also growing. Ride around the city and find parked cars and motorcycles or traveling by red bands is common scene. In addition to conscientization, one of the reasons is the not application of fine to the offenders.

Biker is caught traveling on bike path
Recently, a cyclist photographed a car used by State Representative Milton Vieira (PSD) parked in a bike lane in downtown São Paulo. Image was shared by thousands of people on Twitter and Facebook. After the repercussion, Milton Vieira made a video to apologize, said it was cyclist and blamed his chauffeur.

This isn't the first case. In 2014 a driver photographed an official car of the town hall traveling over a stretch of bike path and a few minutes later, the same car was traveling by an exclusive bus lane.

Another common fact and that has caused accidents are people who practice jogging  or skateboard and use incorrectly the bike paths to run. Only in 2015 were registred 14 cases of "runners" who were involved in accidents with cyclists due to the fact of trying to divide a space that isn't theirs.
