Residents reported crimes in the housing program Minha Casa, Minha Vida

Family is expelled from social housing in Rio de Janeiro

Residents of the housing program Minha Casa Minha Vida (My House, My Life), built with funds from the federal government, reported problems with drug traffic, action of local mafias, invasions, illegal sale of apartments and even killings at 16 Brazilian states.

The sale of drugs is the most common occurrence: the 108 complaints submitted since April to the Ministries of Justice and of Cities, 70% involve the presence of traffickers, who sometimes, expel or murder the residents.

After drug traffic, the second largest number of reports involve the invasion of apartments (in most cases, the crimes are correlated), present in 48% of complaints. In Rio Branco (AC), for example, a resident of Residential Rosa Linda, opened in 2011, was allegedly threatened, beaten and his property invaded. The complaints are anonymous. Rolândia (PR), in the area José Perazolo Park, a retired would have been kicked out of home by traffickers - and the apartment turned into mouth of smoke.

The list was obtained by reporting the Ministry of Justice, through the Access to Information Act. Complaints were received by the executive group established on April 8 in order to "develop integrated actions with security agencies on illegal conduct under housing programs established by the Union."
