Brazilian government finds sanitary problems in 8 samples of meat
The Ministry of Agriculture found health problems in eight samples out of a total of 302 analyzed in the 21 refrigerators investigated by the "Operação Carne Fraca" of the Federal Police. According to a representative of the public agency, in samples with problems, the inspection found bacteria such as salmonella and staphylococci, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea and other health problems.
According to Reuters, the problems were located in hamburgers from the company Transmeat, of the Paraná state, with seven samples contaminated with salmonella. Staphylococci were also detected in the sausage produced by the Frigosantos fridge, located in Paraná. The two companies will be fined and without the option to resort to judicial disapproval.
The other cases detected in other slaughterhouses, such as the use of pork head in sausage and the addition of dirty cardboard in nuggets (case of the chef Jamie Oliver's products sold in Brazil), have not yet been converted into punishments to the responsible companies, in this case the meat exporters JBS and BRF.
