Italian tourist was brutally murdered in Rio de Janeiro

The urban violence in Brazil seems to have no limits. Roberto Bardella, 52, was killed in the Morro dos Prazeres, Santa Teresa neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro. He and his cousin Rino Polato, 59, were on two motorcycles and entered the slum by mistake and were killed by traffickers who confused them with police investigators. The Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera" heard a friend of Bardella, the councilman Ennio Valiante - from the city of Jesolo, near Venice, where Bardella lived.

"Roberto? He was very cheerful and very cautious, He loved to ride a motorcycle and a year ago he was planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro," the councilor told the Italian newspaper. "A mutual friend said he had heard Bardella a few days ago and said that they would go to a favela to exchange a part of the motorcycle," added Ennio Valiante, adding that the Brazilian police quoted a mistake on the way from his friend until the slum. The news also says that the dead tourist was married and had a child. Bardella had a condominal management company with his wife.
