Woman runs over 7 people and kills 2 in Brazilian religious temple
A driver lost control of a car in parking of fake version of the Solomon's Temple, in Sao Paulo, on Sunday evening (16), killing two women and leaving seven people injured. Among the victims is a child. Dilza Maria Chianca, 61 years old, was arrested in the act and will answer for murder.
The two fatalities were identified as Iraci Fabri da Silva, 48, and Rosemeire Rodrigues Gunter, 39. Iraci got stuck between the car and the wall and was referred to the Hospital das Clinicas. The student Rosemeire died at the scene. The other victims were taken to area hospitals and aren't at risk of death.
Tests proved that the driver had not been drinking. According Dilza, the accident was caused by a technical problem and was unable to stop the car. Through a statement, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, owner of the temple, reported that the event occurred around 18h on Sunday. "One of Solomon's Temple faithful who came to join a cult, lost control of his semiautomatic vehicle in the second basement of the temple, running over seven people," the church announced.
Earlier on Monday, the driver was ordered to pay BRL 20,000 by the judge Paulo Abreu Lorenzino. Moreover, Dilza was forbidden to leave the city for 30 days without judicial authorization, had her drive license suspended for an indefinite period and will have to appear in court every two months.
