Olympic athletes of Spain are knocked off in Rio de Janeiro
Two olympic athletes and their coach were robbed, on Friday morning in Santa Teresa, in the Central Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The spanish sailing team composed by Fernando Echávarri Erasun and Tara Pacheco were with the coach, Santiago Lopez Vazquez, in Hermenegildo de Barros street, when they were approached by five assailants.
Missing 76 days of the start of the 2016 Olympic Games, athletes are already in Rio to prepare for the tests. On 27 April, the duo Tara, 27, and Fernando, 46, won the silver medal in the Nacra 17 mode, during the Sailing World Cup, in step in Hyères, France. In 2008, the athletes won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.
The thieves - who used at least two firearms - took the money, a bag with documents and a digital camera.
