Brazilian company launches black toilet paper and causes controversy

Another publicity campaign has generated racial offenses in social networks. The company Santher, decided to disclose a line of black toilet paper, the first of its kind to be sold in Brazil. The campaigner said he thought of an action that would value black as a symbol of elegance and refinement. The actress Marina Ruy Barbosa was called to be the poster girl, wrapped in a paper dress next to a luxury black roll, she was photographed by the photographer Bob Woodward.

The problem was the hashtag used to advertise the product on social networks: #BlackisBeautiful. The term demonstrates the implicit racism of the association between the act of using a toilet paper and the black color.

It may not have been the intention of the agency, but the public in social networks has already demonstrated against the brand.
